Paulo Avelino has worked with a lot of leading ladies in the past. However, being paired with Kim Chiu proves to be a special experience since he never gets tired working with the actress. 

During the grand media conference of their film My Love Will Make You Disappear, Paulo was asked what is the difference of having to work with Kim compared to all the leading ladies he had worked with before. 

The 36-year-old actor answers, “Now that I think about it, parang never lumampas ng dalawang beses kong katrabaho lagi yung mga leading ladies namin, even if it’s in the series o sa movie. 

“Parang ngayon na natanong sa akin, parang siguro yung sagot ko diyan, hindi nakakasawang katrabaho si Kim.”

Paulo then quips, “Nag-a-adjust yung acting niya, yung ulam niya may gulay na,” which could refer to Kim’s packed lunch she brings to the set. 

Kim responds with humor, saying, “Nag-aadjust kasi ako, e. Binibigyan ko ng iba-ibang flavor.” 

This is the third time that Paulo and Kim will banner a project together, following the successful run of What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim in 2024 and Linlang in 2023. 

As Paulo revealed, there were a lot of reasons that prompted him to say yes to this film. He elaborates, “Hindi pa kami nakakapag-pelikula together. Tapos rom-com din; hindi pa talaga ako nakakagawa ng rom-com na pelikula with me starring in it. 

“Tapos ayun, ayun siguro at saka si Kim, si Kim naman yan e—madali siyang katrabaho and parang exciting din naman yung concept tapos nalaman ko si direk Chad [Vidanes] ulit tapos istorya ni Prime, ayun na-excite din akong gawin.”

I’m Drunk I Love You co-starring Maja Salvador, Fan Girl with Charlie Dizon, Ngayon Kaya with Janine Gutierrez, and Elevator together with Kylie Versoza are some of the romantic films that Paulo bannered.

In the same media conference, Kim and Paulo were asked if they expected to be close to each other after working together for three times now. 

Kim answers, “Hindi ko nga alam na makakatrabaho ko ‘to sa 18 years ko sa industry… Kasi sabay tayong nag-simula di ba, mas matanda ka lang sa akin?”

Paulo replies, “High school ako pinapanood na kita sa…,” to which Kim immediately responds with, “Hoy, hindi ah! Pinapanood kita sa StarStruck, sumasayaw ka pa ‘dun.” 

Paulo then quips, “So, pinapanood mo na ako non?” To which Kim giddily replies, “Actually bumoto ako.” 

StarStruck is a defunct reality show of GMA where Paulo was an alumnus of the fourth season. Aljur Abrenica was hailed as the Ultimate Hunk, while Jewel Mische emerged as the Ultimate Sweetheart.
